After the mercury dissolved the Sulphur into its materia prima, then made the green
Stone first into a yellow Stone, then made it into a deep-blue viscous Water, and
eventually coagulated it into a moist, oily, pitch-black lime, Saturn began his regiment
with this blackness, that in its materia had the appearance of a black scaly Toad,
which lasted during the whole time of putrefaction. As soon as the materia, through its
own inner fire, dries up totally to an incomprehensible dust, the ice-grey colour of
Jupiter appears as a sign that the sovereignty of the water is over and the kingdom of
the air begins to be effective.
Now the materia takes on the form of ice, like a crystal. This jovial Regulus is now
our Stone Onyx studded with Rubies (the seven red Rubies of the Stone signify the 7
steepings of the fiery or golden Water) (see "Sun from the East" 1783, page 65). That
means the new Gabritius, which still has to be washed 7 times or be baptized in the
philosophical Jordan.
Following the Sovereignty of Jupiter, Venus now becomes the green of the new
Kingdom of the Air, which now nourishes and washes the developing material Sun
Child with its Virgin Milk.
This is followed by 7 washes, rinses or steepings, to which the Spiritus volatilis is
added 7 times to the materia. When this occurs, all the colours of the rainbow appear,
the so-called Peacock's tail, as a sign that Venus has begun its rule.
The added Spiritus volatilis dissolves the Laton, each and every time, into a milk-
white fluid, which is also called Lac virginis, This is dried up again and coagulated
into a fixed salt. Pay attention when this occurs. Whenever you rinse or wash, the
Fixum must always surpass the Volatile by weight, so that, at all times, the materia
outweighs the Spiritu volatilii, otherwise the coagulations would take too much time
or would not take place at all.
Great attention should be paid to the fact that no rinsing or washing take place, nor
should there be new Spiritui volatilis added, until the materia is dried up well and
stabilized, or that the volatile salt, namely the Mercurius volatilis, through the fixed
salt is likewise changed into a fixum.
The colourspiel of the Peacock's tail is as follows: firstly, many colours appear, all in
disarray. For example, white, red, black, green, yellow, grey, blue, everything is
mixed. Then, all these colours disappear again, and one main colour after the other
appears in the following sequence: black, black-blue, dark red, highly red (this colour

however is not yet a perfect colour), orange, lemon-yellow, ash-yellow, green, then
blue-white, and finally after cooking it for a long time, the highly white colour
appears. Before the whiteness, the Laton is green!
When this wonderful green colour appears above the renewed adamic earth, which is
now called "The Sage's Vineyard," then this blessed green is a sign that the materia,
through the Will of God and His Omnipotence, has reached a new growing life!
Noah planted his vineyard soon after the flood, which blossomed splendidly and
brought forth grapes. After this event, there is no longer the need to fear that the work
ends up in failure.

When this philosophical vinestock begins to blossom and brings forth delicate green
grapes, then the time is close to an abundant vintage.
That is why, at this point, being full oh hope, the Philosophers call out: "O benedicta
viriditas, gyrans per universum, cujus centrum ubique peripheria vero diffusa per
omnes Naturae Abyssos."
The colorful rainbow, that appears above the new Earth, is a sign that the flood has
reached its end, and there is peace between Water and Fire. It is the mystical Jacob's
Ladder, which stands between Heaven and Earth, and on which God's Angels ascend
and descend.
All colours ascend and descend in the glass approximately 7 times. Every colour is the
symbol of a certain new energy and virtue of the developing Sun-Child. The
colour changes originate with the inner sulphur, as the Originator and the Producer of
all colours. They come into being out of the fixed half, however, still to a certain
degree volatile Spirits, which are on their way to becoming fixed.
Yet these colours are, to be more explicit, the expression of a very specific condition
of the inner Central-Fire. The Blackness, as the saturnine Colour of Darkness and the
Underworld, followed by the ice-grey Colour of Jupiter, as a symbol of the mystical
twilight of a new day of creation, whose Light slowly begins to ascend in the East.
With the multi-coloured and the magnificent green colour of Venus, the inner sulphur
attains new energy to grow and become more and more alive. Eventually it wins, after
the green colour changes into a wonderful Azure-Blue, the dazzling white colour of
the full Moon, the Light-Raiment of the resurrected OSIRIS.
This dazzling whiter colour signifies the Union of the Male (Sulphur) with the Female
(Mercury), so that they form one Body, the Hermaphrodite.
The sought after white Nature-Sulphur, the flying Dragon of the Alchemists, the
DIANA of the Sages, the Queen of the Philosophers, the born-again Moon with his
Doves, the new paradisiacal Light-body with his from-above radiating spirit-Forces.
Since the Eagle is the symbol of the secending Spirit (Isaiah 40-31), so is the Dove a
symbol of that descending divine Spirit from up above. That from now on, like an

illuminated Aura or a fiery tongue, remains suspended above the head of our Subjecti,
which was baptized 7 times in the mystical Jordan.
